Progress on FX's planned "Powers" adaptation has been slow-going, and it looked like another nail was added to the coffin two months ago when showrunner Charles "Chic" Eglee's involvement in AMC's "Thief of Thieves" was announced.

But Eglee, who has already worked on another Robert Kirkman-created project you may or may not have heard of before, wants you to know that he's still very much committed to bringing the tale of Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim to life.

"The announcement of 'Thief of Thieves' this last week was interpreted by a lot of people that that somehow put 'Powers' in limbo, and that's not the case at all," Eglee told the Nerdist Writer's Panel in a new interview recorded in April, courtesy of CBR News. "We're actively moving forward with ['Powers']."

Eglee spoke about his approach to "Powers," which has gone through numerous iterations during the adaptation process from a Frank Oz movie to its current status on FX.

"My background is really more kind of cop stuff -- cop and law," said Eglee. "And my approach to the show was a little more superhero-adjacent as opposed to it being a superhero show because I really don't know much about that world, and I'm not particularly adept in telling those stories. So I was approaching it as if it was a straight cop show. It just so happens that the world was populated by these entities that have various powers and abilities and are able to create mayhem that our guys have to deal with in a legitimate cop procedural way."
